Dear Tiger Family,

The first few weeks of the 2016-2017 school year have been incredibly successful! It has been wonderful to reconnect with upper classmen and their parents as well as meeting an amazing group of freshmen. This year is well on its way to becoming the best year ever for Chaffey High School students. For the first time ever, more than half of our senior class is within striking distance of meeting not only their graduation requirements, but the A-G college-readiness requirements! This is huge for us as we strive to have ALL Tigers graduate with many post-secondary options.

This type of excellence doesn’t happen by accident, and it doesn’t happen without the support of the entire Chaffey Community. I would like to highlight a few of the programs that are available to assist students in their college and career readiness journey.

  • SchoolLoop—If you haven’t signed up, please contact the school as soon as you are able, or click on the blue “Register Now” link at the top left. This is a direct line for parents and students to check on progress, get missing assignments, and—most importantly—communicate with teachers.
  • After School Tutoring—Starting 8/29/16, there will be FREE tutoring in the Library starting at 3:15pm. Click on the “Tutoring Schedule” link to the left of this message for more detailed information.
  • ROAR—Our Saturday School program is a great chance to recover attendance and get caught up on schoolwork. The ROAR program is from 8am to noon, and a snack is provided to all students who attend. Please click on the “ROAR Schedule” link for a calendar of ROAR dates.

These are just a few of the many supports available to help ALL Chaffey High School students graduate college and career ready—which translates into OPEN DOORS after high school. As with any support, it is only effective IF you take advantage of it—the sooner the better.

I am convinced this will be Chaffey High School’s best year ever. Let’s work together to make it happen, Tigers!

Don’t stop believing,

Dr. Matamala
