Welcome to the second semester of the 2011-2012 school year.  I trust all had a great Winter Vacation and are plenty rested for the beginning of the third quarter.  I wish all the best of luck this semester…especially our seniors.

During the second semester Chaffey High School will again be offering students opportunity to extend learning, remediate grades, make-up missing assignments, recover credits, etc.. Chaffey ROAR (school-on-Saturday) officially kicked-off at the end of the first semester and it was awesome. Both students and teachers reported a great experience and we look forward to what the future holds for Chaffey ROAR.  Make sure you talk with your students about signing up for a Chaffey ROAR session.

For seniors (Class of 2012) it is important to start this new semester off on the right foot.  Perfect attendance, high degree of effort in class, and a clear vision on graduation is important.  This is a great time of year for all students but for seniors…the second semester is the beginning of the end.  With graduation only five months away, time will fly by and it is critical to guard against “Senioritis”. 

On many occasions I have asked for parents to monitor student’s progress:   School Loop is a great tool to watch trends in grades, see missing assignments, and monitor attendance.  Counselors are available to speak over the phone, as well as in person when needed.  Teachers can be reached via loop mail or through district email.  I am available to talk any time…please make an effort to connect with us in order to help with your students’ academic success.  If you need assistance with School Loop you can give us a call.  If you need use of a computer please stop by the office between 7:30am-4:00pm any day and we will have a computer readily available.

Semester 1 report cards will be distributed during the week of January 16^th-20^th.  Grades earned from each semester are considered official and are printed on student transcripts.  Eligibility will once again be figured and for those participating in extra-curricular activities a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 is required.  If you have questions regarding eligibility status you can call your students counselor and they will answer any questions.
