Well Chaffey another year is coming to a close.  Standardized Testing will be ending in the tail end of April which marks the beginning of AP Testing. Both tests mean much to our school as well as to each student and I am sure we will once again hit our achievement marks.

With the close of the school year soon to be upon us please remember these critical points:

  • Seniors need to finish strong.
  • Underclassmen need to finish strong.
  • Daily attendance will greatly reflect student achievement.
  • Tutoring is available in the Library, in the Math building, and with many teachers by pre-arrangement.
  • Homework, assignments, and projects need to be turned in on time.
  • Chaffey ROAR (School-on-Saturday) is a good way to make-up missing assignments.
  • Counselors are available to assist as needed.

Between now and the remainder of the year there will be scheduled Saturdays which all students may sign-up for. A Chaffey ROAR session is designed for attendees to make-up missing assignments, get assistance with class work, or work on projects that are due in most core classes.  To sign up for a ROAR session students need to speak with their teacher(s) to determine if they can attend a session.  All students attending ROAR remain on campus for four hours (8:00am-12:00pm) and need to come prepared with class-work.  There is no credit earned in these classes but the opportunity to get extra help or to complete assignments has been a great opportunity for many.  Please encourage your student to talk with their teachers about this neat opportunity.

This is an exciting time of year for our seniors but it is also an important time to stay on task.  Senioritis is a serious condition that many suffer from; do not let your senior student fall into the trap.  With graduation scheduled for the 22ndof May the class of 2012 needs to finish strong.  Keep in contact with your senior student to make sure they are on top of their studies and don’s let something simple get in the way of graduation.

I also want to encourage the classes of 2013-2015 to finish strong as well.  Finals are scheduled for May 21st-23rdand please remember each of these days is a minimum day schedule.  It is also important to communicate with your student and monitor their progress on School Loop to make sure they are staying accountable of their academic expectations.

Students returning to school next year have participated in pre-registration (10thgrade after STAR testing) for the 2012-2013 school year.  I cannot stress the importance of making sure your student is on track with the a-g requirements.  This means your students’ achievement and class schedule is aligned to meet the needs of college requirements for the University of California and/or California State colleges system.  This means they are scheduled in the correct courses (Core, Foreign Language, and Electives) that meet the necessary requirements and they are achieving grades of C- or higher in each.  For those students who need to remediate credit, there will be an offering for summer school in the subjects of English, Math, Science, Social Studies, PE, and Spanish I & II (by counselor recommendation only).  Contact your student’s counselor regarding summer school opportunity.

It has been a great year and the future once again looks bright for our Tigers.  With this being my last year I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed being a Tiger and hope I have served you well.  As always, if you need anything please don’t hesitate to call and Believe with me that We can achieve.
