Minimum Course Requirements ("A-G") – Required “C” or better grade on transcript:

A. Social Science 2 Years
B. English 4 Years
C. Math 3 Years (4 recommended: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus)
D. Laboratory Science 2 Years (3 recommended: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy/Physiology)
E. Foreign Language 2 Years (3 years recommended: same language)
F. Visual/Performing Arts 1 Year
G. College Prep ctives 1 Year (Advanced coursework selected from: History, English, Advanced Math, Lab Science, Foreign Language, Social Studies, and Fine Arts)

PSAT – Offered at CHS in October (grades 9-11)
SAT I – Scholastic Aptitude Test
SAT II – Subject Exam
ACT – American College Test

University of California SAT I & SAT II or ACT Plus Writing
California State University SAT I or ACT

The lower the GPA, the higher the score required for admission.

The University of California and California State University have aligned their respective admission requirements. Part of this alignment has taken place in the area of electives, specifically a Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) requirement.

Students seeking admission to University of California or California State University will be required to present courses appearing on the UC “A-G” list, “F” Visual and Performing Arts, requirement according to the following schedule:

  • Applicants will be required to present a full-year course in visual or performing art
