Dear Parents and Students:

I am happy to say Chaffey High School has made vast improvements regarding school-home and home-to-school communication via an exciting program called School Loop.  This connection, via the internet, will allow for instant access to grades, upcoming assignments, daily attendance records, connection to teachers and other staff, progress monitoring, and much more.  To register for School Loop is easy, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Click on the “School Loop Login” on the left hand corner of this page.
  2. Click on “Register Now”
  3. Select “Parent Registration”
  4. Complete the registration form.  You will need your students ID#
  5. Click “Submit” and accept the user agreement.
  6. To daily access School Loop go to http://chs.cjuhsd.net from any computer with internet access.

Once registered, your student will need to accept you from their portal page; this is a security measure.  Multiple parents/guardians can register for each student in your household.  When registering with an email address you will receive daily updates on your student’s progress.  I talk about accountability quite often and I feel School Loop allows for increased accountability all across the board.

When looking at your student’s progress on School Loop please consider the key point below.  I wish for all parent to actively participate in their student’s education so please discuss and monitor the following:

  • When a student is absent or tardy to class, the ability to achieve is lessened.  Our teachers set a goal to begin instruction at the bell and when a student walks in late the disruption to all is great.
  • Behavior expectations are something we discuss with students on a daily basis and parental support is appreciated at all times.  Chaffey has a great culture but we must continue to strive to keep our academic environment one appropriate for all.
  • Each period of instruction offers students an opportunity to participate, and when utilized the ability to achieve is greater.  Encourage your student(s) to actively participate in the learning process.
  • Actively partner with us in your students achievement by talking about effort.  When your student(s) gets home ask them about what was learned during the day, check daily homework, and monitor grades being earned.

I encourage all students to attend tutoring as the needs arise.  For those enrolled in Algebra I, I encourage you to take advantage of our Web Based Algebra Tutorials where students have access to topic specific algebra tutorial sessions 24 hours-a-day.  You will find the link and login instructions by clicking on the “Academics” link to the left of this message.

We are working to improve the ways in which we can communicate and School Loop is yet another improvement in this area. I would also like to invite you to join me on Twitter at @wecanachieve (see the link to the right under my picture) where I will post various messages regarding the happenings at Chaffey High School.  I would like to see you actively participate with us so please join me at one of our monthly meetings.  We host Parent Forums, ELAC meetings, Site Council meetings, or Coffee with the principal (contact the school for a revised monthly meeting schedule).

I wish you and your student continued success and know that I am here to serve you.  If at any time you need anything please be sure to give me or any of our school personnel a call.

As always…I Believe We Can Achieve,

Thomas O. Mitchell
Principal, Chaffey High School
