Am I Ready for the Future?

Tiger Parents,

The 2015-2016 school year is off to a great start! Thank you for your patience and flexibility with the many construction projects going on in our campus. There will be some dust for a bit, but the end result—air conditioning in GWS and a new math/science building—will definitely be worth it for our students.

We had our Welcome Back Rally last Friday, 8/14/15, and I have to tell you—We have not seen Tiger Spirit like that in a long while. Your students made it very clear that they were excited to be part of the Tiger Family! The basic message of the rally was: Work hard, play hard, and graduate ready for college and careers.

Your students have an army of concerned, supportive adults around them, but THEY are the ones that need to step up and get it done. They need to give 100% academically in each and every class. At the same time, we want to make it crystal clear to ALL students that we want them involved in every aspect of campus life; school should be fun. We want Chaffey High School students to have as many open doors as possible upon graduation—some of our students will begin careers, some will join the military, many will attend a two- or four-year college or vocational school. Whatever path our graduates take, we want it to be THEIR choice—not something they had to settle for.

Graduating ALL students prepared for college and ready for careers is easier said than done, yet this is our mission. We can only accomplish it with your support, and we look forward to partnering with you the rest of the year! Please look for me at our Back to School Night, Tuesday, 8/18 at 6:30pm in GWS; I will be wearing a bright, orange tie.

With Tiger Pride,

George Matamala, Ed.D.
Principal, Chaffey High School
