Physical Education: 2013 - 2014 Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The program includes a background of movement efficiency skills and vigorous daily exercise for the maintenance of  physical fitness and health.  It is designed to  meet the requirements of the state fame work and the PDCA eight step process. The program will include activites in the following content areas: aquatics, effect of physical activity on dynamic health, individual and dual sports, mechanics of Body movement and team sports.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Blacks shorts: Can be purchased for $10.00;   Gray Shirt: Can be purchased for $10.00.  Combination Lock$ 6.00.  All can be purchased from Chaffey High School Student Store. A swimsuit is also required for the 1st/2nd Semester One or the other.( Frosh. only).. Black sweats and a grey sweat shirt for cold weather. Student can not wear jeans etc. under sweats. Appropriate footwear is to be worn at all times during class. e.g.tennis shoes: rubber soled shoes..... No boots, sandles, slippers of any kind can be worn during class,This is a safety issue.

LOANERS:  Student must present current valid I.D. card to receive clothes.  Valid 4 times times a semester.

JEWELRY: Jewelry is NOT allowed in class,at any time, including pierced studes for safety reasons. No sunglasses or hats are allowed in class unless medically advised to wear.  No I pods, phone use or ear buds allowed during class time.  Students will risk items being confiscated if they don't abide by chaffey school rules.

MEDICAL: Note from home will excuse student for a maximum of 3 consecutive days.  Doctors note needed for anything beyond 3 days.  Note will excuse student from participating but NOT from dressing out. If student has doctors notes and can not participate for more then 30 days, students P.E.credits may  be deferred so as student can participate.

GRADING:  Knowledge - Fitness - participation       {Participation:50% - Fitness:40% - Knowledge: 10%}.  Tardies, Attitude, Non Suits, Daily Participation are all  included in participation category - Writing across the curriculum when applicable applied to Knowledge category  e.g. ( Journal Writing) Mile or stamina run applied to fitness grade.

DIRECT DEFIANCE TO DRESS OR REFUSAL TO WEAR LOANER CLOTHES 

1st refusal intervention: Student informed of department policy and penalty for  non suits.

2nd refusal intervention: Teacher calls parents and informs them of department policy. Documentation will be on B.I.R. form.  Teacher will contact   student success team.

3rd refusal intervention:Teacher request counselor to arrange meeting with parent, Contract is signed. One more non suit and student is dropped from class with F grade.

4th refusal intervention: Teacher advises counselor of this fact, requesting that student be dropped from class, no credit will be received.
