School Profile:

Chaffey High School (CHS) is one of eight comprehensive high schools in the Chaffey Joint Union High School District and is located in Ontario, CA, approximately 45 miles east of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County. Chaffey opened in 1901 as On-tario High School and was renamed Chaffey High School in 1911. The current enrollment is approximately 3250 students in grades 9-12. CHS is accredited through WASC and in October 2013, received a 6-year accreditation with a 3-year review.

Student enrollment is evenly distributed by gender. The composition of the current student population by ethnicity is 90% His-panic, 5% White, 3% African-American, 1% Asian, and 1% other. Of our 3250 students, 904 are identified as GATE and AP/Honors, 416 students are identified as ELD, and 412 students are qualified under Special Education services. The school serves a lower socio-economic base with approximately 86% qualified for Free and Reduced Lunch.


Graduation Requirement: 230 Credits

Credit: 5 credits are granted for completion of semester courses. 2.5 credits are granted for quarter courses (ELD). Students are normally enrolled in 6 classes each semester.
